भाषाविषयक पाश्चात्य प्रयत्न. आदिलंगने सुद्धा भाषाशास्त्राच्या कामी बरेच परिश्रम केले असल्याचे दिसते. ह्याने तयार आदिलंगचे प्रयत्न. केलेल्या मिश्रिडेटीज़ नांवाच्या ग्रंथांत, मुख्यत्वेकरून अनेक भाषांतील शब्दांचाच भरणा आहे, व त्याचे चार भाग छापून प्रसिद्ध झाले आहेत. पहिला भाग इ. स. १९०६ साली छापला. दुसरा इ. स.१८०९ साली, आणि तिसरा व चवथा इ. स. १८१६-१७ मध्ये छापण्यांत आला. हा शब्दसमूह, व भिन्नभिन्न भाषांतील अनेक वस्तूंचा अब्दकोश रचनेत नामधेयादर्श, केवळ क्याथराइन् बादशाहिणीचे अमूल्य राणीच्या हुकमानेच तयार झाला; परिश्रम. आणि म्हणूनच त्याचे सर्व श्रेय ह्या विदुषी राज्ञीलाच दिले पाहिजे; असे ह्मटल्यावांचून राहवत नाहीं. तिने आपल्या राज्यांतील सर्व अधिकारी, माठमोठाले कामगार, बडे बडे अमीर व उमराव, आणि वकील व राजदूत यांस, निरनिराळ्या भाषांतील शब्दांचे कोष व ( मागील पृष्टावरून पुढे चालू. ) language is less arbitrary and more determined by rule than either the sound or sense of words, it is one of the principal things by which the connection of languages with one another is to be discovered.
