' १हूएनसँग यानें जी माहिती दिली आहे, ती फारच उत्कृष्ट आहे; असें थोर थोर विद्वानांचं मत आहे, त्यानें हर्षराजाचीहि माहिती दिली आहे. त्यांत ' त्यावेळी हर्ष- राजा हा कान्यकुब्ज [ कनोज ] देशाच्या गादीवर असून उत्तर हिंदुस्थानचा मुख्य राजा होता. स्थानेश्वर हे त्याच्या राजधानीचे शहर होतें. त्याचा वडील भाऊ राज्य- वर्धन यास शत्रूनीं विश्वासघातानें मारिलें त्यामुळे देशांत चहूंकडे बेबंदशाई सुरू झाली. तेव्हां मुख्य प्रधान भानी (भंडी ) यानें सर्व लोकांच्या वतीनें हर्षास राज्यसूत्रें हाती घेण्याविषयीं प्रार्थना केली आहे' वगैरे गोष्टीसंबंधाचा आधारभूत इंग्रजी उ तारा खाली दिला आहे:- - " "The people having lost their ruler, the country became desolate.
